Berg Lake Trail - Mt. Robson
This year’s painting trip took us to Berg Lake Trail in Mount Robson Provincial Park, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. After being closed for reconstruction after catastrophic flooding in 2021, I knew I wanted to try to book a trip when I heard it was reopening in 2025. So I lined up my ducks in a row and jumped online to book when bookings re-opened!
Luckily I was able to grab 4 nights on the trail for September 2025 and off we went, Marie-Christine Claveau, Zuzana Riha, Valerie Speer and myself. We have all met before on outdoor painting trips and are coincidentally all represented by Alpine Echo Gallery in Revelstoke (to which Zuzana is also a part owner). Check it out in Mackenzie village, next time you’re in Revy!
Four women’s artists, 5 days on the trail and 67 km’s later our hearts were full and inspiration tanks full. Berg lake trail really has it all including rocky mountain vistas, turquoise lakes, booming waterfalls, fragile wildflowers and massive glaciers. We hiked, sketched and took in all we could from this exceptionally beautiful area. I’m looking forward to some studio time to see what we all come up with to honor this remarkable Canadian landscape.
